No Stopping

It’s a new year and I’ve got a mantra that I will be adhering to….

NO STOPPING

I didn’t plan to live by a motto this year so allow me to provide a little background on where this came from and why I am choosing this as the theme for my 2014.

Unintentional Motivation

A common trend I’ve noticed this year is that unrealistic resolutions are being replaced by objective goals. I’ve never been big on making New Year’s resolutions, but I can definitely get behind setting actual, realistic  (but still ambitious) goals.

As I was initiating one of my goals for 2014 (at least 10,000 steps a day) on what turned out to be my longest run since college I passed some unintentional motivation.

This motivation came in the form of a simple street sign that said, “No Stopping Any Time”.

No Stopping

What was obviously placed there to prevent cars from parking in a restricted area quickly became something that I decided to use to drive me throughout the entire year.

Not only was it appropriate at the time of my run – a split that was typically my hardest due to the incline – but it carries a lot with it as one of the easiest things to do is give up on something.

Every day people “check out” of their jobs, lose their passion for what moves them or decide to quit because life threw a challenge at them. We’ve all done it – including myself.

The hard part is to keep pushing forward and that’s what I encourage you to do with me this year.

No matter what the circumstances…NO STOPPING!

If we adhere to this simple mantra, then I can guarantee that this time next time year we will be basking in our accomplishments and that won’t even be the best part. The best part will be that the journey that brings us to 2015 will be one that will define us.

What will define you this year?
